Experimenting with filters and effects on photographs for the backgrounds of the book with characters layered on top.
Still in the testing phase as I'm not happy with the look just yet (and the generic photos I can find online).
One idea I do like is adjusting the filter/colour to better reflect the mood of the page - need to experiment with page spreads and bleeds vs. enclosed image and how type works in.
A few for thought:
Colour photo, untouched.
Same photo made into a black and white...
With a filter - not crazy about it but experimenting with textures...
Warm tone - like the direction this could go...
Another tone - don't love this colour but like the idea...
Don't like this one at all but wanted it posted just as reference.
